As part of the upgrade of the main railway axis of Greece, ERGA O.S.E. S.A. awarded OBERMEYER the final design of the New Railway Line Corinth - Patra, section from km 75 to km 90.
The railway line under design starts from Diakofto railway station and reaches the western city limits of Aigion - bypassing the existing railway station and the port of Aigion. The significant project difficulties are related mainly to the fact that the railway line runs across residential areas with developed town plan and also crosses the new and old Corinth - Patra national road, whose uninterrupted operation must be ensured.
OBERMEYER is engaged in the design of the railway line and the restoration of the local road network, which will be affected by the construction of the new line. In addition, OBERMEYER has undertaken the design of a considerable number of structural works, including 4 bridges, with a total length of approximately 700m, the design of the Aigion tunnel, with a total length of 3500m and its emergency galleries, with a total length of 790m. Furthermore, during the construction phase of the Aigion Tunnel, OBERMEYER will provide to ERGA O.S.E. engineering consulting services.
It is expected that the project will be tendered in 2005.
